About Sitiz-M XR
Sitiz-M XR contains two medicines for type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) helps the body make more insulin after meals and lowers the sugar released by the liver. Metformin (a biguanide) lowers the sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better.
Sitiz-M XR is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes, when treatment with both sitagliptin and metformin is suitable.
The tablets release metformin slowly, so one dose a day is usually enough. Sitiz-M XR is for adults and should only be used as advised by a doctor.
How to use
Take Sitiz-M XR exactly as your doctor has told you.
- The usual dose is taken once a day with a meal, preferably the evening meal. Your dose is chosen by your doctor from the 50 mg + 500 mg and 50 mg + 1000 mg strengths.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not split, crush or chew it.
- Parts of the tablet may be seen in the stool. This is normal, as the medicine has already been absorbed.
- Keep following your diet and exercise advice while taking Sitiz-M XR.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take two doses at once.

- Tell your doctor straight away if you have severe, lasting stomach pain with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis).
- Tell your doctor before any scan or procedure that uses contrast dye, before surgery, and if you are unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea.
