About Scivan
Scivan contains two medicines, amlodipine and valsartan. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and valsartan is an angiotensin-II receptor antagonist. Both help blood vessels relax, which lowers blood pressure.
Scivan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults whose blood pressure is not controlled well enough by amlodipine or valsartan on their own.
Scivan is not for children or adolescents under 18 years.
How to use
Take Scivan exactly as your doctor has told you. Your doctor will choose the strength that suits you.
- The usual dose is one tablet a day, ideally at the same time each day.
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food.
- Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed. Your doctor takes extra care when raising the dose in people aged 65 or over.
- If you miss a dose, take it when you remember, unless your next dose is nearly due. Do not take a double dose.
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking Scivan, because they can change how strongly it lowers blood pressure.
Keep taking Scivan even if you feel well. High blood pressure often has no symptoms.
