About Esoprol-N
Esoprol-N contains two medicines: naproxen and esomeprazole. Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that relieves pain and inflammation by reducing prostaglandins. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Esoprol-N is used to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis in patients who are at risk of developing stomach or duodenal ulcers from NSAID treatment, when lower doses of naproxen or other NSAIDs are not enough.
Esoprol-N is for adults. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18.

Side effects and warnings
Like all medicines, Esoprol-N can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The most common is indigestion. Other common side effects include stomach pain, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, headache and dizziness.
- Do not take Esoprol-N if you are allergic to naproxen, esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients, or if aspirin or other NSAIDs have ever caused asthma, hives or an allergic reaction.
- Do not take Esoprol-N if you have an active stomach ulcer or bleeding, severe liver, kidney or heart failure, or if you take atazanavir or nelfinavir.
- NSAIDs such as naproxen may slightly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart problems or risk factors for heart disease.
- Stop taking Esoprol-N and see a doctor straight away if you get a skin rash, blisters, sores in the mouth or any other sign of allergy.
- Do not take Esoprol-N in the last 3 months of pregnancy, and avoid it earlier in pregnancy unless your doctor says it is clearly needed. Do not take it while breast-feeding. It may make it harder to become pregnant.
Always read the patient information leaflet in the pack. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
