About Auroprox CR
Auroprox CR contains paroxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. The tablets release the medicine slowly, so it is taken once a day.
Auroprox CR is used in adults to treat major depression, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Auroprox CR is for adults. It is not approved for use in children or adolescents.
How to use
Take Auroprox CR exactly as your doctor has told you. It is taken once a day, usually in the morning, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew or break it.
- Major depression: usually a starting dose of 25 mg once a day.
- Panic disorder: usually a starting dose of 12.5 mg once a day.
- Social anxiety disorder: usually a starting dose of 12.5 mg once a day.
- PMDD: usually a starting dose of 12.5 mg once a day, taken every day or only in the second half of the menstrual cycle, as your doctor advises.
- Your doctor may increase the dose in steps of 12.5 mg, at least one week apart. Older people and people with severe kidney or liver problems usually start at 12.5 mg.

- Antidepressants can increase thoughts of suicide or self-harm, especially in young people and at the start of treatment or when the dose changes. Contact your doctor straight away if you have such thoughts or notice changes in mood or behaviour.
- Do not take Auroprox CR if you are allergic to paroxetine, if you take or have recently taken an MAOI antidepressant (including linezolid), or if you take pimozide or thioridazine.
- Taking Auroprox CR with other medicines that affect serotonin can cause serotonin syndrome. Get medical help if you have agitation, fever, sweating, shaking, fast heartbeat or confusion.
- Auroprox CR can raise the risk of bleeding, especially with aspirin, NSAIDs or blood thinners. Tell your doctor if you bruise or bleed easily.
- Tell your doctor if you have epilepsy, bipolar disorder or mania, glaucoma, or if you take tamoxifen.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breast-feeding. Paroxetine may affect the baby, so do not stop or start it without medical advice.
